Citrix allows businesses to run safely and securely. This means their IT department can worry about what’s really important. Like weird stuff.
The math on this one is pretty simple: dogs are better kids than human kids. So feed them right. Feed them all-natural Halo.
Most security systems use scare tactics in their advertising. So we decided to inject a little fun into home security by using the most knowledgeable expert in the field: a cat burglar.
(Please keep in mind) This was back in 2008 before eco-friendly cars could be cool. Basically, your only option was a Prius. We set out to prove that clean cars can be fast by creating a racing circuit for the TDI Clean Diesel. And rather than ads, we did a documentary about it that aired on Speed Network.
Running a small business can be painful. And when you’re the boss, you have to put on a brave face to insure your employees that they are taken care of. It’s a condition we call “Bossface,” and Justworks can cure it.
The product is called “Angry Orchard,” so let’s add real anger to it. We used the anger on social media to literally anger-infuse our hard cider. Seriously, we had the Angry Orchard farmer online anger it into our apples to see if it’d add to the flavor.
The Brewers Association had an interesting dilemma in trying to promote American Craft Beer Week. Ya see, there are over 4,400 craft breweries in the United States. And each one of them celebrates ACBW in their own way. We gave every craft brewer in the country the same way to celebrate so they could feel unified, so we created our own beer. The same recipe, brewed in all 50 states.
Dish wanted to offer free HD for life for all new customers. Turns out, it just required flipping a switch. Makes ya wonder why other companies didn’t do it, right?
No man wants to admit to having ED, yet up to 52% of men do. So we set out to make it easier to discuss by talking about it as if a “friend” has it. Because you certainly don’t.
* My role on the films was conceptual, I did not work on the production.
BKUK created a burger “strictly for kids.” So to let people know, we used famed photographer Jill Greenberg, known for taking lollipops away from children then photographing them crying and reversed it, taking the Burger Buddies away from adults then capturing the tearful reactions.
Everyone has a fond memory of their marked-up high school JanSport. But after high school, people tend to leave them behind. So, with limited funds, we decided to reach some young adults in their environment and remind them of how cool it is to customize a JanSport. We set up tents at Bonnaroo with 15' x 8' blank canvas' and let concert goers paint whatever they wanted on them. Then we turned this art into a custom line of JanSport backpacks. After 4 days, we had 8 huge canvases that yielded a series of 125 unique Bonnaroo backpacks.
Columbia Crest appears to be just a cheap, large scale production wine. The truth is it's a great tasting, award winning and carefully crafted wine. We wanted to show just how much effort goes into making Columbia Crest by creating a crowdsourced Cabernet. We literally give our fans a plot of land to do with what they want, collectively. It's a great way to let consumers feel like they are expert wine makers while showing them just how much care and effort goes into a bottle of Columbia Crest.
* Note, I did this as a freelance project and was only responsible for the concept, not the production.
All the paperwork that goes along with employee benefits and compliance is terrifying. So around the most terrifying time of the year, Halloween, we took over New York subway stations with these horrifying posters.
Concern Worldwide is a non-profit organization that allows people to donate helpful, often weird shaped gifts to people in need. So rather than giving the standard donation of a few bucks, people get to donate things like chickens, goats and water pumps. Things that are helpful and fun to give, but kinda hard to wrap.
HP was launching a new touchscreen computer around the holidays. They wanted to do something big. And projection mapping was still new at the time. And since there’s nothing like the holidays in New York City we took over the side of a hotel to demonstrate the new touchscreen functionality in a big, Christmas-y way. Also, I used this 10 story display to propose to my wife, who was the producer on the project. The perks of being in advertising.
Partnership for a Healthier America asked us to come up with a way to get Fruits & Veggies in the conversation around the Super Bowl last year. Of course we didn't have the $4 Million to do a TV spot so our thought was to start developing a brand. Since fruits and vegetables were made up of all sorts of brands, we figured it'd be smart to pool them together into one big brand. The premise is simple, advertising works. So let's make a brand that can actually compete with other brands by doing the things big brands do. So, we invented FNV, the brand of Fruits N' Veggies. And we've begun acting like big brands: first creating a logo and then using product placement, celebrity endorsers, PR stunts, a brand website, social media channels and a bunch of other marketing tactics to get our name out there. The catch is, we're totally self aware about it, admitting that we'll put our logo pretty much anywhere we think it'll help get kids to eat more FNVs.
JCPenney had just overhauled their new Home Store. But, they weren’t getting a ton of foot traffic in their stores. So we decided to bring the Home Store to people via Facebook. We used some HGTV famous designers to suggest and send personal decorating tips to users who needed some help.
Andersen Windows are the best in the biz according to most contractors. But, contractors aren’t exactly known for being trustworthy. So, how do we tell consumers that contractors trust Andersen windows the most without it sounding like BS? We make sure that people know that contractors are homeowners too.
I think you can tell a lot about the world by simply searching Google. I did this little poster series as a personal project where the popularity of things, based on the number of Google search results, showed us the things matter the most to the people of planet Earth. The results were shocking. Okay, not so shocking. But still funny.
